are you a gadget addict? Apparently I am.

Are you an electronics gadget addict?

My Quiz Result: You are way ahead of the others, when it comes to digital electronic products like phones/PDAs/music players/ cameras etc. You are the person, your friends come to, when they need advice on what stuff to buy. Great going, buddy.

I've always wondered, and now I know.

From Today's New York Times:

One company makes about 80 percent of the altar bread used by American churches.

So I guess they're not made by heathen prisoners in the church basement. Hey, at age 7, that was the best theory I could come up with, k?

Waiter Rant: Thanks for the Tip-Confessions of a Cynical Waiter Waiter Rant: Thanks for the Tip-Confessions of a Cynical Waiter by The Waiter (Steve Dublanica)

My review

In spite of my boycott of reading anything on pages, Carolyn started to read excerpts of this book to me and I was hooked pretty quickly...no surprise, since I once made my living as a "food server" and can relate to 90% of what "the waiter" is talking about. Waiter or not, you will enjoy this book. Recommended to anyone who has ever worked in a restaurant OR set foot in one!

life tip of the week

An entrepreneur I follow on Twitter (and whom I respect) just gave me this piece of advice, when I asked him how I can be lucky enough to do what he does (e.g.,run my own business):
"start doing what you love and then figure out how to make a living from it. took me a few years :-)"

Great advice...in 140 characters or less.

PODCAMP AZ!

If you are reading this and you did NOT attend the 2nd Annual PODCAMP AZ held at the University of Advancing Technology in Tempe, Arizona, you need to RUN, don't walk, to this link: http://reg.podcampaz.org/and sign up for the 2009 conference. I could sit here and blog for literally hours about how incredibly AWESOME this year's Podcamp was, but I have a feeling a lot of other people are doing it already. It was also my first experience being at a conference that used a twitter hashtag (ok, so I'm a noob as far as that's concerned) but it was a very useful way to stay on top of what the latest breaking news was at the camp, such as who won the raffle, where the afterparties would be, and of course the occasional 140 character-or-less mini-reviews of the sessions (which seemed to all be positive). I have to say I did not sit through a bad session the entire conference; add to that free vitamin water, lots of friendly, helpful and approachable people, and sunny, dry 88 degree weather in November, you've got one hell of a fantastic weekend for a social media geek like me. It was not only informative but exceptionally inspiring...now, if you'll excuse me, I've got podcasts to create!

We did it--the move is official!

(sort of x-posted from my company's new blog:) We did it! We have officially moved the Olive Street Films Blog from our former wordpress site to Posterous, thanks to lots of encouragement from Garry and other posterous peeps (and wordpress's tyranny). We are very happy to be there, and hey wordpress, don't let the door hit you on the a** on the way out!
